Fandom is mainstream now!
Monday, 18 April 2011 07:08 pmFandome has been slowly but surely been creeping into the mainstream. Initially this mainly seemed to be in TV, with Supernatural playing with the 4th wall, Hawaii Five-0 going to a Comic-con lookalike and Castle referrencing fandom every opportunity it gets. But there can't be anything more mainstream than being on BBC Radio 4. When I got into the car today to go to work I had the most surreal experience. On You & Yours they were discussing Torchwood, James Marsters and Fan Conventions (7 min. report) instead of the usual high-brow socio-political topics, strategically placed between reports on Food Labelling and Council Reserves.
How did that happen?
