Looking for vids & vidders #4

I am thinking about putting together another Eurovision vid show for vidukon 2016. (See here, here & here for previous ones if you've not been around my journal that long).

The idea is to showcase European vidders, European source and European music. I'd also love to have a meta vid with a 'European twist'. However, as the beatles said, I can only do it with a little help from my friends........*pleading eyes*

Here is the place where you can brainstorm ideas for Premieres, sign up to making a Premiere or nominate already existing vids that fit the theme.

I am looking for:

• Vidders who would want to make a Premiere for the vid show. This could be vidding a European source, a European song, or both. You do not have to be a European vidder as long as you chose an appropriate source and/or song.
• Vid recs, please, self-recs welcome.
• Ideas for European source that totally should be vidded but you don't want to do it.

Well, at lest one fandom on that list has been vidded since last year. ;)

Right now I really want a vid for the German tv series Deutschland 83 which I'm enjoying immensely as it's running here now. Around Christmas I was super into the new Swedish mini-series Gentlemen & Gangsters and I'm still vaguely thinking about vidding that myself. I'm the worst at vidding lately, though.

I'll try to think of vid recs and let you know if I come up with anything relevant.

Oh, dear, that Rex vid is the cutest, I've already called first dipps on showing it at VidUKon, I'm just waiting for finding out who the vidder is. *suspicious eyes*

Obviously, I'd also LOVE to have a Premiere from you for Eurovision (Gentlemen & Gangsters sounds intriguing), but I know what it's like with competing pressures and stuff. I've not made a vid in the last 12 months either. Let me know if you're up for it, thgough.

Yeah, I figured I might as well book when the price was lower over the holidays. I really hope I can actually go! :) I'm in the process now of applying for a summer job in the profession I'm studying for, and it will depend a bit on how that goes and when they want me to work.

Oh, btw, how do you imagine "a meta vid with a European twist"?

Uuhm, I don't really know what it would look like myself. I was wondering about a vid looking at US remakes of European shows and the ways they are different as well as similar. I also had a vague idea about the use actual European location vs using vancouver and toronto as a stand-in for pretty much everywehere (Covert Affairs was really good at this, they filmed in Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Istanbul and Denmark that I know off, and you can tell the difference straight away compared to Alias, where everywhere looked pretty much like generic canada with a toke foreign number plate & street sign). But basically - I dunno. If that helps ;)

Eek, I've been meaning to reply here for a while, sorry it's taken so long! I would volunteer to do a premiere again this year, but I'm not feeling me any European source at the moment. Unless you would be willing to extend Eurovision to include SA - kind of like Australia was included in Eurovision 2015 ;-) I've got one or two South African films that I'm dying to vid and this would motivate me to actually do it.

Oh, thank you so much for the rec! I had a vague memory that there was a vid out there that I might have seen, but I could not remember who or where. I'm pretty sure this was it! Now you've got brownie points. ;)

The rules (lol) for Eurovision say EITHER source, song or vidder need to be European, with definition of European being bendy. So, if you want to vid South African Source you could either go for European music, or we sell you as Dutch. You've got a Dutch or German greatparent, yes? *hopefull*

Unfortunately the Dutch roots go back a bit further than that BUT my grandmother was in fact Italian so that must count for something! I have not decided on music yet, but if all else fails we'll have to fall back on that ;D

I'll need to know source & song by 12th of March at the latest, btw, and the vid needs to be up-loaded ideally by the 1st of May, not later than the 15th of May for Premieres.
