Tell me it's April 1st today.....

Meet the New Characters of Supernatural's Possible Spin-off, Supernatural: Tribes

The new series would exist in the world of the Winchesters (Sam and Dean will make appearances, without a doubt), but unlike its country-crossing source material, Tribes would stay put in Chicago. Borrowing from the Windy City's history of mafia families, Tribes tells the story of five warring monster families and one pissed-off hunter.

Apperantly the CW has order a pilot already, casting is in progress.... o_O

I am so conflicted about the spinoff. On the one hand, if all the terrible writers (or even just the worst ones!) go off to work on it, then maybe--MAYBE--the final season of SPN Proper can claw its way back to some semblance of Good. On the other hand, if ANY of the not-bad writers leave to do the spinoff...SPN Proper's in even worse trouble than it already is.

I need to know who's gonna be in charge of this sucker, basically. I NEED TO KNOW.

Ah, interesting point! My thought process hadn't gotten any furthere than WTF?!? Basically, I just don't get what there thinking is here - this is really a totally new show which happens to be set in the same universe. Clearly they don't get what elements the fans love about the show - the bromance and the 'on the road' feel - and just strippt it away. So yes, basically still stuch at WTF?!?

Oh, well, yes. Agreed on all counts of WTF! It totally looks like a spinoff in name only. Like, maybe, someone wanted to do a supernatural crime family show, and someone at the CW said, "Why not make it a Supernatural crime family show?? :D? :D? :D!" Because just looking at the show's info, that seems the likeliest genesis story.
