Daily Post #7
Two recs for people who enjoy TV with a distinct European feel to it - slow paced story telling with less emphasis on dialog and action and more time for characters to develop naturally, that kind a thing...
The Fall
A five-part BBC Ireland series set in Belfast, with Gillian Anderson playing an English Senior Detective coming in to review an unsolved murder case with the Irish police. It's unusual in that the story is simultaniously told from the police officers and the murderers view. No easy viewing, but rewarding.
Les Revenants (The Returned)
This is for those who love stunning visuals and can tolerate subtitles. A French 8 part series, set in a village in the French Alps, where one day several people (and one butterfly) return from the dead, but have no memory of awareness that they were dead. This is visually stunning, shot in muted greys, greens and blues, and is very subtly erie and creepy, so if that's your thing you might enjoy this. Since it's not dialog heavy the subtitles shouldn't really put anybody off.
